InformationBodyIf your ACH payment for an invoice or payment link shows Pending verification, your customer’s bank account needs to be verified before the payment can complete. This article explains: Why verification is required. What your customer needs to do. What happens if verification isn’t completed. Why does my ACH payment need verification? If your customer enters their bank details manually (instead of using instant verification), Stripe verifies the account by sending two small deposits — called microdeposits — to their bank account. This helps confirm the account belongs to them and prevents fraud. You’ll see a “Pending verification” status in your Transactions dashboard until verification is complete. What does my customer need to do? Check their bank account for one or two small deposits (usually show within 1–2 business days). Open the verification link provided after checkout (or in Stripe’s email). Enter the deposit amounts or descriptor to confirm the account. If amounts are requested there will be two deposits. If the descriptor is requested there will only be one deposit. Once verified, the ACH payment will continue processing automatically. How long does verification take? Microdeposits appear in 1–2 business days. Customers have 10 calendar days to complete verification. After verification, payment processing resumes automatically. How many verification attempts are allowed? This depends on the method of verification required: If amount-based: 3 attempts. If descriptor-based: 10 attempts. What happens if verification isn’t completed? If the bank account isn’t verified within 10 calendar days: The payment will automatically move to Declined. You’ll see the decline reason in the transaction details. The customer can submit a new payment, continue to Can my customer try again? Section for more details. We know it’s frustrating when a payment is delayed. Verification is required by Stripe to help keep transactions secure. Can my customer try again? Yes — if the verification process fails or expires, your customer can submit a new payment. How your customer can retry Payment Link Your customer can reopen the original payment link you shared. This will restart the checkout process so they can re-enter their bank details. Invoice Your customer can reopen the original invoice link you shared. This will restart the checkout process so they can re-enter their bank details. How can my customer find the microdeposit verification link? After your customer enters their bank account details during checkout, they’ll see a screen explaining that micro-deposits are being sent to their bank account. This screen will include instructions and a link to complete verification. Your customer will also receive an email from Stripe with: Step-by-step instructions. A direct link to verify the micro-deposits. Tip: If your customer can’t find the verification link, ask them to check their email (including spam or junk folders) for the message from Stripe. If your customer revisits the original payment link or invoice Invoice The invoice will continue to display the micro-deposit instructions and verification link. This remains available until: The verification is completed successfully. The 10-day verification window expires. The maximum number of verification attempts is reached. Payment Link The customer will not see the micro-deposit instructions again. Instead, they’ll see the standard checkout page. If verification fails (due to too many attempts or the 10-day window expiring), your customer will need to: Start a new payment by re-entering their bank details on the checkout page. How to share the microdeposit verification link with your customer If your customer can’t find their verification link, you can locate and share it directly from your Bluevine dashboard. Login to your Bluevine dashboard. Navigate to Sales > Transactions. Locate the transaction with a status of “Pending verification”. Select the transaction to open the details panel. Find and copy the micro-deposit verification URL. Once copied, share the verification link with your customer using your preferred method (email, text, etc.).
