When should I see the funds from a check deposit in my account?
Funds are typically available the same business day if deposited before 3:00pm PT/6:00pm ET. However, deposit times may be longer for new Bluevine accounts. You’ll receive emails letting you know when your funds should be made available and when your funds are available in your account.
For checks deposited on a weekend, they will be considered deposited the next business day. This is usually on a Monday unless it falls on a federal holiday.
In some instances, a hold may be placed on the check in order to validate the funds. If a hold occurs, the funds will typically be available within three to six business days. However, we may make a portion of the check’s funds available to you on the same business day in some cases, or the next business day if your check was deposited on a weekend or holiday. You’ll be notified by email when the funds will be deposited into your account.

Why was my check placed on hold after I deposited it?
A hold may be issued to allow us time to validate the check. The hold helps ensure that funds are available and that the check will not be returned as unpaid. Hold periods may be longer for new Bluevine accounts. Please refer to section K of the Deposit Account Agreement and Disclosures for more information.
Why did I only receive a partial amount of my check funds?
In some cases, we may approve your check deposit with a partial hold which means that we’ll make a portion of a check’s funds available to you either on the same day your check was deposited or on the following business day if the deposit was made after 6:00pm ET. However, if your check was deposited on a weekend or holiday, a portion of the check’s funds will be available the following business day. Once the hold on your check is removed, the remaining amount of the check will be posted to your account.
We’ll send you an email letting you know if your check was approved with a partial hold and when you should expect to see initial funds in your account. You’ll also see the posted check and a pending hold deposit in your transactions list when this occurs
Please refer to section K of the Deposit Account Agreement and Disclosures for more information.
How long will the hold be in place on a check I deposited?
Check deposit holds are typically between three to six business days. We’ll send you an email letting you know when you should expect to see the funds in your account.
How do I know if a hold has been placed on my check?
We’ll keep you informed via email if a hold has been placed on your check deposit. Make sure that your email address is up to date by selecting the Profile icon in the upper right-hand corner of your Bluevine Dashboard and then Account Details.
How can I avoid a hold on a check deposit?
Some common reasons a hold may be placed on your mobile check deposit are:
- You have a new account
- For more information regarding new accounts, please refer to section K of the Deposit Account Agreement and Disclosures
- The check is a large dollar amount
- Your account or sub-account(s) have recently incurred a negative balance.
- We have reason to believe the check you deposited may not be paid
What are alternative methods to receive funds quicker?
You can encourage your payers to pay via electronic ACH or wire payment by providing your Bluevine account and routing number. ACH transfers take between 2-3 business days to be received. Wire transfers are typically posted to your account within one business day.
The information you’ll need to provide to receive an incoming ACH or wire is found in our support article, How do I deposit funds into my Bluevine Business Checking account?
