Pre-authorized funds may be held when you use your Bluevine Business Debit Mastercard® for certain purchases. A pre-authorization places a hold on available funds until the merchant sends Bluevine the final payment for the purchase amount. Once the final payment amount is received, the hold will be removed. During the hold period, you won’t have access to the pre-authorized funds.
Gas Station Transactions
If you use your card at an automated fuel dispenser (i.e., pay at the pump transaction), the transaction may be pre-authorized for an amount of $75.00 or more. If your card is declined at the pump, and you have sufficient funds available, we recommend completing the purchase with the cashier before pumping fuel. It can typically take up to seven days for a hold to be removed.
Restaurants, Hotels, and Car Rentals
If you use your card at a restaurant, hotel, for a car rental, or similar purchases, the transaction may be pre-authorized for the purchase amount, plus an additional 15% or more. This hold ensures that sufficient funds are available to cover tips or incidental expenses. It can take up to seven days to remove the pre-authorization hold. However, transactions related to car rentals and hotels may result in a hold for up to sixty days. Please be aware that hotels & car rentals may choose to include their own pre-authorized holds which are separate from the pre-authorized amount held by Bluevine.

Unfortunately, we’re not able to remove the hold as it ensures that sufficient funds are available to cover tips or incidental expenses. The funds are held until the seller sends us the final payment for the purchase amount.
